When your employment ends during illness, your former employer will notify the UWV. From the moment you have left your employment, there is no more pay. However, you may be entitled to sickness benefit. This may also be the case if you have fallen ill within a certain period after leaving employment and you do not have a new employer yet.

Self-insurance

An employer has the choice to transfer the sickness law to the UWV, and to pay the corresponding employer contributions to the UWV. In that case, your sickness benefits and reintegration guidance will be carried out by the UWV. An employer can also choose to become self-insurer. The employer then largely takes over the role of the UWV when someone leaves employment sick. The employer pays the sickness benefit and is responsible for reintegration according to the Wet Verbetering Poortwachter. A self-insurer can choose to insure this or to bear the costs himself. If you are registered with Resolu, in most cases this means that your employer has opted for the latter and is then self-insurer in its pure form.

More information can be found on the UWV website.

Role Resolu

Resolu performs the guidance in reintegration according to the Wet Verbetering Poortwachter on behalf of your former employer. Resolu can also play a role for your former employer in the monthly calculation of your benefit and its specifications. Resolu takes over the guidance of the former employer from the moment you leave employment. You can still contact your former employer for absenteeism and agreements during employment. Your Resolu case manager is your first point of contact. Resolu is part of paraDIGMA groep.

Role of UWV

The UWV will not be directly involved in your sick leave counseling. However, the UWV is overarchingly involved. The UWV will inform Resolu or your former employer of the amount of your benefits. For some issues, Resolu will request permission from the UWV. The UWV will also summon you for a (first-year) sickness benefit assessment at 1 year of illness. If you disagree with the reintegration, you can request an expert opinion from the UWV. These are some examples of UWV involvement. Your case manager will inform you if this is an issue.

How to move forward?

Your former employer will sign you up or has already signed you up with Resolu. A Resolu case manager will contact you to discuss the next steps with you.
