What is an RIV?

RIV stands for "Reintegration Report." Prior to the WIA claim assessment, UWV tests the reintegration efforts of the employer and employee as recorded in the reintegration report. This is called the RIV test. This test determines whether the employer and employee have fulfilled their obligations under the Wet Verbetering Poortwachter, so that the employee retains as much work as possible and an unnecessary claim for benefits is prevented.

When does the RIV come up?

In the 88th week of absence, the (former) employee receives a letter about the WIA application. The (ex-)employee himself or herself applies for the WIA benefit at the UWV. He or she does this no later than in the 93rd week (1 year and 9 months) of absence. In that same week, the RIV report must also be received by the UWV. UWV must have a picture of the reintegration result at the time of the WIA application (no later than in the 93rd week). The Current Judgment and the Final Evaluation must therefore relate to that moment.
